    Exploration of structure

    Kind of Activity:

    Artistic Response

    Objective:

    Students will analyze Sharon Pollock's concept of structure and represent it through a medium of their choice in order to more deeply understand and/or challenge their own concept of structure.

    Structure:

    To begin, students may reflect on the following questions:

    -What constitutes “structure” in a play, or in any written work? (Perhaps they might consider how they have studied structure thus far: i.e., has it been contrasted with, or viewed as separate from, function or meaning?)

    -What are Pollock’s opinions on structure? How does she like to use structure in her plays? (For today's homework...
