Annie Lockwood
Annie is the protagonist of the novel who finds herself transported back to the 19th century when a visit to the Stratton Mansion goes awry. She is the girlfriend of Sean during her time in the 20th century as well as the love interest Strat during her time in the 19th century.
Sean
Annie's boyfriend during the time in which she remains in the 20th century. He is a hobbyist mechanic and his life is adversely affected by the sudden disappearance of Annie.
Hiram Stratton Junior/ Strat
Hiram Stratton Junior, also known as Strat, is the love interest of Annie during her time in the 19th century. He is also the son of a rich scion with whom Harriett is secretly infatuated with.
Hiram Stratton Senior
The scion of the Stratton family and owner of the Stratton Mansion in which a large part of the novel takes place.
Devonny Stratton
The sister of Strat whose life changes when Annie is brought home by Strat to live in the Stratton Mansion.
Harriett
A rich woman but with no particularly defining characteristics. She is secretly infatuated with Strat and this leads to her bearing feelings of disdain and jealousy towards Annie. She is later betrothed to Clarence, a fried of Stratton Senior, much to her own displeasure.
Aunt Ada
Harriett's chaperone who in cahoots with Clarence, orchestrates a scheme to steal her fortune through an arranged marriage.
Clarence Rowwel
A friend of Hiram Stratton Senior, he is betrothed to Harriett in a scheme to steal her fortune. He attempts to kill Harriett under the guise of a suicide but his plan is foiled when he is shot by Florinda Stratton.
Florinda Stratton
The wife of Hiram Stratton Senior who later shoots Clarence when she finds out of his schemes.
Matthew
A Stratton family servant who is brutally murdered when he inadvertently eavesdrops on Clarence and Ada's cunning schemes against Harriett.
