Objective:

Students will analyze and interpret one famous song written about The Troubles.

Structure:

The Troubles brought with it a variety of artistic responses from both sides of the conflict, including some songs that have pervaded through to the larger cultural zeitgeist. For this activity, students will select one of the many songs written about The Troubles. Each student should select a different song. As students familiarize themselves with their chosen pieces, have them fill out the following worksheet to help guide their analysis:
