    Pococurante is yet another satirization of the eternal search for earthly happiness. Confounding the expectations of Candide and Cacambo alike, Pococurante distinguishes himself through the sheer pleasure which he takes from displeasure. Pococurante’s name literally means “few cares”, thus suggesting that he who abominates the world will be happiest in it.
