Children of Virtue and Vengeance Summary

Children of Virtue and Vengeance Summary

The story begins with Tzain and Zélie giving Baba a burial and pledging to bring Amari the throne. However, Roën informs them that a rebel group known as Iyika have taken Lagos.

There is speculation that Amari’s mother, Queen Nehanda, is dead, but she is actually alive and sends her forces to attack the group. In the aftermath Zélie gets knocked out and enters a dreamscape where she is reunited with Inan, where he learns Nehanda is alive. When Inan wakes, he advocates for peace in Orisha.

Zellie is still angry at Inan and proposes to kill him, believing he is still a lair. She attempts to teach Amari how to wield magic. They learn that Amari has her mother’s power, which is the ability to take other people’s powers. A conflict ensues between the two groups; however, Inan betrays Nehanda and helps Zellie. However, Zellie is knocked out by a white gas and the book ends with her waking up confused on a ship.
