grudging

unwillingly

condominium

An ​apartment ​building in which each ​apartment is ​owned ​separately by the ​people ​living in it, but also ​containing ​shared ​areas.

warlock

A man who is ​believed to have ​magical ​powers, usually to do ​evil.

peg

A ​small ​stick or ​hook that ​sticks out from a ​surface and from which ​objects, ​especially ​clothes, can ​hang.

anime

Japanese ​films made using ​characters and ​images that are ​drawn ​rather than ​real, or one of these ​films.

lenient

Not as ​severe or ​strong in ​punishment or ​judgment as would be ​expected.

chide

To ​speak to someone ​severely because they have ​behaved ​badly.

kosher

Prepared or ​kept in ​conditions that ​follow the ​rules of ​Jewish ​law (of ​food or ​places where ​food is ​sold, etc.).

seethe

To ​feel very ​angry but to be ​unable or ​unwilling to ​express it ​clearly.

gnarled

Rough and ​twisted, ​especially because of ​old ​age or no ​protection from ​bad ​weather.

buxom

(of a woman) healthy-looking and slightly fat, with large breasts.

lingo

A ​foreign ​language.

chafe

To make or ​become ​damaged or ​sore by ​rubbing.

twit

A ​stupid ​person.

stoic

Determined not to ​complain or show ​your ​feelings, ​especially when something ​bad ​happens to you.

leer

(​especially of men) to ​look at someone in a ​sexually ​interested way.

thrall

If you are in thrall to someone or something, or in the thrall of someone or something, he, she, or it has a lot of ​power to ​control you.

manacle

To put manacles around a person's ​legs or ​arms.

sprite

Fairy (a ​small ​imaginary ​person with ​wings) ​especially one ​connected with ​water.

surreptitious

Done ​secretly, without anyone ​seeing or ​knowing.

denuded

To ​remove the ​covering of something, ​especially ​land.

gnaw

To ​bite or ​chew something ​repeatedly, usually making a ​hole in it or ​gradually ​destroying it.

anticlimactic

Causing ​unhappiness by being less ​exciting than ​expected or not as ​interesting as something that ​happened ​earlier.

vile

Unpleasant, ​immoral, and ​unacceptable.

contingent

A ​group of ​people ​representing an ​organization or ​country, or a ​part of a ​military ​force.

vehemence

Expressing ​strong ​feelings, or ​shown by ​strong ​feelings or ​great ​energy or ​force.

stolid

(of a ​person) ​calm and not ​showing ​emotion or ​excitement, or (of a thing) not ​interesting or ​attractive.

dilapidated

Old and in poor condition.
