    Objective:

    Students will examine the influence of Thoreau's philosophy in "Civil Disobedience" on the work of 20th century thinkers and activists.

    Structure:

    This is day one of a two-day activity. Explain to students that "Civil Disobedience" has inspired the works of activists and thinkers for centuries after its publication. In this activity, students will research and analyze how Thoreau influenced the work of major 20th century figures.
