"One of the luckiest relationships of my life began with a chance encounter in an elevator"
In his rather personal introduction, Rosen tells us how he became equated with Ruth Bader-Ginsburg. He tells us that this was one of the "luckiest relationships of my life," which shows his fondness for the Supreme Court justice.
"Ginsburg, inspired by Marshall's example, also decided to move incrementally."
Giving some context, Rosen tells us that Ginsburg was inspired by Thurgood Marshall. He was the chief lawyer on the well-known case called Brown v. Board of Education, which challenged racial segregation in schools. Ginsburg employed Marshall's tactics to support her own cause, fighting for gender and legal equality.
"We bonded immediately over our mutual love of opera and began a conversation about music that has continued ever since."
Unsure what to say when he met Ginsburg, Rosen decided to ask her about opera. To his relief, Ginsburg was a huge fan of opera, and they talked about it throughout their relationship.
