Kristina Snow
Kristina Snow is 17 years old and the central character in the novel. Kristina is outgoing, friendly, and experimental. Kristina's parents are divorced. Sometimes, Kristina visits her father in Albuquerque, the same neighborhood where her mother lives. However, the father is always absent.
While living with her father, Kristina is introduced to drugs by her boyfriend, Adam. Kristina becomes dependent on crystal meth drugs for the rest of her life. Drug addiction negatively affects Kristina's life because she drops out of school, gets an unwanted pregnancy, and encounters a brutal rape incident.
Adam
Adam is Kristina's boyfriend. Adam is charming, romantic, and convincing. A few days after knowing each other, Adam introduces Kristina to crystal meth "crank". Kristina tries the drug for the first time and finds it nasty. However, after subsequent trials, Kristina becomes addicted and cannot do without the drug. Adam is protective and does not want any other man around Kristina. When Adam discovers that Kristina is seeing another man, he becomes aggressive.
Kristina’s mother
Kristina's mother is a caring woman who tries to give her daughter the best in life. Kristina's mother is divorced from her husband despite living in the same neighborhood. However, Kristina's abrupt change of behavior and drug addiction creates a rift between her and her mother. Kristina's mother tries her best to help her daughter get out of drugs, but her efforts do not bear fruit.
Kristina’s father
Kristina's father is an irresponsible man. The father is divorced from his wife and spends most of his time at work or hanging out with friends. When Kristina visits her father, he rarely spends time at home, forcing her to look for companionship from Adam, who introduces her to drugs.
Lince
Lince is Adam's first girlfriend, who the author describes as anxious and emotional. After Lince discovers that Adam is dating Kristina, she cries painfully, and at last, she commits suicide to express her displeasure towards Adam's betrayal. Lince's suicide surprises many people because no one expected her to make such a worrying decision to end her life.
Brendan
Brendan is the man Kristina develops a romantic relationship with. Despite knowing that she is dating Adam, Kristina finds it hard to ignore Brendan because he is handsome, entertaining, and friendly. The tension between Adam and Brendan intensifies after discovering they are dating a similar girl.
Chase
Chase is the man who impregnates Kristina after she breaks up with Adam. After impregnating Kristina, Chase overdoses and leaves Kristina to struggle with the pregnancy alone. Luckily, Kristina refuses the urge to abort and she gives birth to a baby boy she names Hunter.
