Ana Dakkar
Ana Dakkar is the main protagonist of the novel. She is a student in Harding-Pencroft Academy, an academy that specializes in the oceanic world. Ana is a freshman, and she has lost both of her parents two years prior. After the tragic attack that sets off the plot Ana learns that there is more to her heritage than she previously thought.
Dev Dakkar
Dev Dakkar is Ana's older brother, whom she believes to have died in the destruction of the Harding-Pencroft Academy. Before the class expedition she's about to go on, he gives her a pendant necklace that belonged to their mother. Dev turns out to be not the kind and protective brother Ana believed him to be.
Gemini Twain
Gemini Twain is another surviving student of the HP. He is put in charge of Ana's protection, and they slowly build a bond of trust and friendship. In HP, he belonged to the House Shark, meaning that his specialty lies in battle and weapons.
Ester Harding
Ester Harding is one of Ana's best friends. She is a direct descendant of one of the founders of HP; therefore, she is under a lot of pressure. Ester also falls in the autism spectrum and has a companion comfort dog called Tom.
