    Why read Purgatorio? Doesn’t Dante’s Divine Comedy end after Inferno?

    This question is meant to address any misconceptions arising from the immense popularity of Inferno. Although the first part of The Divine Comedy is usually taught instead of the others, it is only the beginning of the journey that Dante takes. In fact, as some students might already understand, Dante would actually not want readers to only read about Hell in a longer work that is about the journey of the soul towards God.
