Duncan Campbell Scott: Poetry Summary

Duncan Campbell Scott: Poetry Summary

Life and Death

In this poem, the poem is thinking about death sitting on the seashore, and he imagines how the endless sea has life under the water, which he calls it a mantle to ocean's girth. Then the poet says that life to him seems like the shore which has a life beyond it. Death is only triumphant here and there, but life reigns everywhere.

Song

In the poem "Song," the poet asks his beloved to creep inside his heart which is the most serene place. The place is clear as the light and sweet like a rose. In his heart, love for her flows. He says that dreams never wilt in his heart and it holds the thoughts of her. He concludes the poem by saying that the purest of all that resides in his heart is his beloved. She has already crept deep inside his heart.
