Edmund Morris is the main perpetrator of the "biography", detailing the events of his life with the President of the United States. For more than one reason, Morris is the main character of the book, not Ronald Reagan, because the book focuses mostly on his personal life knowing the president. Morris is often criticized in real life for adding fictional characters into this biography.

Factually, Dutch was Ronald Reagan's football name when he was younger, and the nickname has stuck with him throughout the presidency.
