Structure:

The n-word is one of the most inflammatory in the English language. It is used as a racial slur many times throughout Dutchman and The Slave. Tell the class that today they will be discussing the use of the n-word both in the plays and in everyday life. Remind the class that although the word is used in the plays, students should refrain from using it when quoting the text or otherwise. They will soon discuss why this is so important.
