Make a Scene

Objective:

to increase understanding of the plot and the basic rhetorical methods used in Everyman

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9.4, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9.4

Structure:

Students will rewrite the play in contemporary English. Divide students into groups and assign each group to a scene. Groups will work together to rewrite their scene. Remind students to pay attention to the main objectives of the scene when trying to get their point across.

When the rewrites are complete, as time allows either have students perform the entire rewritten play, or have groups pair off and perform their scenes for each other.
