    Comparing Representation of Greek Mythology

    Mixed Media

    Objective:

    Students will compare Pound’s “A Girl” to Bernini’s sculpture “Apollo and Daphne” and discuss / write about the different ways that these two artists chose to represent this myth.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.7

    Structure:

    Part 1: Understanding the myth

    First, students should watch the following video on the myth of Apollo and Daphne: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqekyJmK2N8

    They should make note of the major plot points and features of the story that could be adapted in various media (what images might be captured by artists?).
