Juliette
A teenage vampire, Juliette sets her sights on a girl named Calliope, whom she intends to make her first kill so that she can finally be a full member of her powerful vampire family. Juliette is an intelligent person who is eager to please and has a desire to do good for herself and do good in the name of her family. However, Juliette is unwilling to become a monster to accomplish what needs to be done. When she attempts to kill Calliope, she is shocked to learn that she is a vampire hunter and a member of a prominent vampire hunting family. Still, Juliette lusts after Calliope while still trying to kill her, creating a complicated situation and a strange relationship.
Calliope
Calliope is one of the major characters in "First Kill." A headstrong and intelligent teenager, Calliope is a member of a rather large family which specializes in killing vampires. Like her family, Calliope also hunts and kills vampires, which confuses Juliette (how can she like someone that wants to kill her?) and causes a tremendous amount of tension between the two. In fact, as the two struggle to kill each other, they also find it strange that they start to fall for each other.
