Love In Literature College
World literature can be defined as a means of connection through novels that have the ability to circulate beyond their point of origin. Both Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things are one of many great works of literature that anyone can pick up and establish a connection with regardless of their background because they both happen to carry the universal theme of love. Although the stories have many differences in plot and genres as well as time periods, they are both able to explore the realms of love in many ways and perhaps even push the boundaries of social norms in regard to the idea of love. The texts touch on love in all forms such as friendship, the love between family, the love of a significant other and perhaps even the lack of love. They help us understand that love is not a spectrum but a versatile aspect of human interactions that are critical to the world of literature because it can invoke profound emotions or heartache while teaching us important lessons about humanity. Love is shown in many ways in both of these stories, but each story approaches it in a different manner.
