Sometimes the Foolish Is the Wisest of All: Discerning Gimpel's Virtues Anonymous College

“Gimpel the Fool” is a short story based on the life of Gimpel, who matured from little boy into an adult man while people treated him as a fool. His actions may reflect that the above statement can be handled as a fact, but from paragraph to paragraph it becomes clear that the intentions behind these are pure. He wants to believe everyone because he thinks everything is possible. He always assumes the good in connection with people, even when no one else would be capable of acting like that. That is why everybody considers Gimpel to be a fool, although in fact he is the wisest and most human one of all of them.

The folk starts to treat Gimpel as a fool at a very young age because of his credulity, which he proves in many different ways. The worst example of that is the following: “Gimpel, there’s fair in heaven... Gimpel, your father and mother have stood up from the grave. They’re looking for you” (Singer 4). This happens because the main character wants to believe that everything he hears can be true. This is what normal people call credulity or scam.
