Introduction to Go Set a Watchman

Go Set a Watchman is the second and final novel published by Harper Lee. Published in July 2015, it was one of the most anticipated and controversial novels in decades, initially touted as a newly-discovered sequel to Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. After Mockingbird's publication in 1960, Lee swore on multiple occasions that she would never publish another novel. HarperCollins' announcement in February 2015 about the forthcoming release of Go Set a Watchman was therefore a shock to many, and some expressed suspicions about Lee's involvement in the decision to publish the text.
