God Sees the Truth But Waits Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

Students at this reading level are unlikely to have read another work by a major Russian author, but they will probably have read at least a few short stories for class before. When discussing the form and genre of the story, the teacher might find it helpful to have students compare it with short stories by Edgar Allan Poe, such as "The Fall of the House of Usher." Because Leo Tolstoy is also frequently considered a realist writer, the teacher might also find it helpful for students to compare "God Sees the Truth But Waits" with works by Mark Twain or John Steinbeck.
