What does Gulliver think of the people on the island of Laputa? Why does he leave?
Gulliver finds them to be uninterested in his ideas, and difficult to communicate with. He leaves because he feels ignored and feels that he has explored everything interesting on the island. He admits that the people of Laputa are far more advanced than he is in music and mathematics, and so he has little to contribute. This is the first instance of Gulliver describing a race of people as being superior to him in any way, which may indicate that his perspective is beginning to shift in a meaningful way.
