Srey Rath

Srey Rath is a Cambodian girl who at the age of fifteen was forced into prostitution by a sex-trafficking group called Nutt. Nonetheless, she has an impressive sense of confidence and mental fortitude which helps her overcome the trauma she has experienced. Her story and experiences under the tyranny of her captors demonstrate the power of labor force training to aid women in recovering from trauma.

Meena Hasina

Meena, also a victim of the region’s prostitution ring has lived most of her adult life working as a sex slave for the group. Having been forced to raise her children under the same conditions, Meena is determined and in the end successful in freeing her children from the brothel where they were born making her a pariah. She is now viewed as a threat to the livelihood of the brothel owners, corrupt authorities, and sex traffickers of the region.

Ainul Bibi

Ainul is in charge of all the girls forced to work as a sex slave in her family's brothel, including her daughters. Despite being sold as a sex slave at a young age, Ainul imposes suffering to her victims and shows no mercy to those who disobey her orders. She is a tyrant whose sole concern is of self-gain leaving no room for sympathy even for her flesh and blood.

Usha Narayane

Usha is a learned girl who sets to rid her hometown of the corrupt policemen and sex trafficking. She sets off a series of community protests against the mob and the authorities who turn a blind eye to the damage inflicted by this tyranny. Her voice becomes a beacon of hope for many people in India’s Kasturba Nagar slum. Usha’s story demonstrates the influence of education on women empowerment.

Kun Sokkea

After the death of her parents, thirteen-year-old Sokkea is left to fend for her younger siblings. Being a young girl with no family to turn to, Sokkea would have fallen victim to traffickers who preyed upon their desperation. However, Sokkea and her siblings were chosen as beneficiaries of an attendance-contingent money allocation of ten dollars per month which provided for their basic needs.
