What do you think is most different about "new Brian"? Why do you think he's changed?
Students can start just by listing new things about new Brian. He seems braver, and he has more knowledge of the woods. As he says, he notices things more. What students will probably recognize as the largest change from the previous day's reading, however, is his resilience. At the end of chapter 8, Brian was ready to give up hope.
