Toby and Tanner are brothers and partners in crime. The film begins with a heist where Tanner puts the brothers at risk for no reason. Marcus and Alberto are cops whose job is to catch these bank robbers. While Toby is at a diner, Tanner robs yet another bank without his knowledge, money which they take to a casino to launder through gambling. They succeed in exchanging the bills for untraceable monies and return to Texas.
They work on a ranch, so they have ample space to dispose of evidence. With an excavator, they bury the car they used in the bank robberies and plan on using their new funds to pay their reverse mortgage to prevent foreclosure. Their parents are dead, the mother from illness, and their father at the hands of Tanner who shot and killed him. The brothers move on to another bank heist as the cops close in behind them, having anticipated them through pattern. The heist goes badly, and Tanner kills two would-be heroes. Toby is shot in the gut and they escape through a crowd.
To get their pursuers of their tail, Tanner unloads a clip from his automatic rifle. Tanner kills officer Parker, but the other officer curtails him and kills him. Toby escapes through a police checkpoint, hiding his severe injury. He pays off the ranch's debt and gives up his life of crime. Officer Hamilton learns that Toby is no longer a suspect for the crimes. He visits Toby's ranch and discusses the crimes plainly. They walk away, giving hints of future revenge.
