Honor thy Father, which is also known as Con-Man, is a Filipino film that talks about tales of a Filipino family, where the father was forced to change his behavior after losing his savings in a law-pyramid scheme. The movie was directed by Erik Matti and featured John Lloyd Cruz in the starring role. The leading character was forced to shave his head due to his role in the film despite the warnings from the other companies.
In the year 2015 during the Toronto international film festival, the film was aired in the world cinema section, which paved its way into the Metro Manila Film festival in the year 2015. The film was shot in, Baguio, Pampanga, Macabebe, and the surrounding towns where they spent sixteen hours in the mines while shooting.
The director of Honor thy Father portrays the film as somewhat sarcastic, where the father is highly affected by his wife’s father issues, he also tries to explain the role of the church and the upper class in the society. The role of the church in the film is considered highly acidic.
