Georgie
Georgie is a sixteen-year-old girl. Her mother just died, and she is struggling to deal with it. Not only is life hard, but the thoughts she has in her head that are rambling and telling her different things. She doesn’t understand how it is possible that her mother is gone, though she feels like she is still there somehow. The story is mainly about Georgie understanding the world as it is better, accepting it and being able to move on.
Mother
Georgie’s mother was much like Georgie. The most descriptive event we know Georgie and her mother had together was when they went to Italy to see Cossa’s art. Georgie and her mother was very close, and they spent a lot of time together, though Georgie was sarcastic and flippant towards her.
Francesco del Cossa
Cossa was an artist. Georgie’s mother loved his art, which is the reason Georgie knows about him. He grew up with creative parents that taught him to understand the beauty and essence of the things around him. Being able to capture it in his art, he quickly became a hit. He died but was sent back to earth to assist Georgie in understanding the world around her, before he ventured back to heaven.
