Structure:
Consider Julia getting into NYU and then going into a spiral of negative “mental distortions” about it. Conduct a brief classwide discussion about this human tendency to pick out negative things and allow them to drown out the positive as well as the truth. Ask students to share their personal experiences with this kind of thinking and why they think it happens.
