Grand Theft Auto
Daniel was pulled over by the police while he had marijuana on him. Ironically, they ask him to take a plea deal where he will plea guilty to grand theft auto (a crime he didn't commit), a charge that will later discredit him from being an alibi for Fonny.
Help
Sharon goes to Puerto Rico in order to ask Victoria to recant her false accusation of Fonny. She sees a cross on Victoria's neck and believes they have their faith in common that will get them to agree. Ironically, as soon as Sharon touches her cross, Victoria demands she leaves.
An Apartment
Tish and Fonny are searching for an apartment to share together in New York City. They are intelligent and kind people willing to give their all to make a life together, and they're young, in love, and living in one of the greatest cities in the world. Ironically, they keep being rejected by landlords because they are black.
Wig
Sharon brings a wig with her in order to wear when she meets Victoria. It's her armor in a way. Ironically, when she sees herself wearing it she has to take it off. It is false, not her. Ultimately, she has to be able to connect with Victoria.
Thrown Out
Fonny tosses a man out of a grocery store when he begins to assault Tish. Ironically, the officer believes Fonny is the one he needs to arrest because he's black. When the officer can't arrest Fonny, he sets up a police lineup, puts Fonny in it, and gets a woman to falsely accuse him of rape.
