Why is Ellie and Jeremiah's relationship so controversial?
Ellie and Jeremiah's relationship is so controversial and stigmatized because of the differences between the two--both materially and culturally. There is also a bit of consternation surrounding their relationship because of race: Jeremiah and Ellie are in an interracial relationship, which is still stigmatized to this day.
