A World War I battle field in Belgium.

Poppies

A type of flower. Thousands of these flowers grew in Flanders Fields, and they have become a symbol of rememberance.

Larks

Small birds known for their beautiful songs; a symbol of hope.

Quarrel

A fight or altercation.

Legion

A large number of soldiers.

Muzzle

The opening of a gun, where the bullets are shot out.

Caesar

A reference to the Roman emperor Julius Caesar, who represents war and military strength.

Sworn

Having made a promise.

Anon

An archaic word for soon; shortly.

Wonderment

Having great admiration or respect.

Content

In a state of happiness or peace; without worry.

Bluecher

The last name of a famous general who fought against Napoleon's army in the battle of Leipzig in 1813.

Almeida

A general who commanded the army in the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961.

Birkenhead

A war zone during World War II

Aboukir

The site of the Battle of Aboukir, where Napoleon defeated the Ottoman army in 1799.
