What is the ethical dilemma of the "I CAN SPEAK" Product?
"I CAN SPEAK" is a product invented so that parents can hear and understand what their infants are trying to tell them. Although most of what the product translates is simply nonsense, that is why people buy the product - to laugh. Although what a baby says can be amusing because it makes no sense at all, this begs the question - should your own children be used as entertainment?

What is Saunders trying to get at when he writes his stories?
Most of Saunders' short stories were published in The New Yorker, a humorous and for-fun publication to show how far (or, how backwards) we have gone as a species. Because of this, the main intent of Saunders is to entertain, and, for that matter, in a different sort of way. Most of his short stories are science fiction, portraying a society that we might enter into one day. Probably, things will never get this bad, but Saunders is simply trying to emphasize the point that we already possess some of the traits in this story, and we should get rid of them when they are obviously a nuisance to society.
