In Praise of Creation Summary

The poem begins with the Speaker describing their surroundings. It can be assumed that the Speaker is in some sort of jungle, as there is mention of the presence of a “tiger, trapped in its own skin” and “migrating” birds everywhere.

The Speaker is clearly in awe of nature’s beauty, as she reflects on the “passionate” mating rituals and the “sparkle” within the tiger’s eyes.

The jungle seems to have a life of its own as the “drums of nature start beating.” So intense is the beat, that “The world keeps on spinning” until the Speaker has transcends “human understanding.”

Suddenly, the sound stops and “everything's quiet.” There is a sense of peace and tranquillity as the Speaker urges for humans to look at the divinity of nature with “their minds open.”
