druid

(in Celtic religion) a priest or soothsayer, typically possessing magical powers

Sidhe

the fairy people of Irish folklore, often appearing in folk tales and legends

Aengus

an ancient Irish god associated with love, youth, and poetry

gutter

to flicker unsteadily, like a dying candle

curlew

a large wading bird of the sandpiper family with a long bill and brown-streaked feathers

King Lugaid

one of the many King Lugaids, all of which were legendary high kings of Ireland

Emain

in Irish mythology, a mythical island paradise (otherwise known as Emain Ablach)

Muirthemne

a Cruithin kingdom located in north Leinster, Ireland, existent from around the seventh century to the twelfth century AD (also known as Conaille Muirthemne)

cairn

a mound of stones, usually constructed as a memorial or a landmark

Deirdre

A tragic heroine of Irish mythology; after Deirdre was carried away by her lover and his brothers, the men were betrayed and slain by the evil King Conchobar, and Deirdre took her own life.

Ogham

the alphabet used by the ancient British and Irish people groups

Étaín

A figure in Irish mythology, sometimes identified as a sun goddess

Midhir

A famous character from Irish mythology, husband of Étaín and son of the Dagda (an important god in Irish mythology)
