Have students analyze McCandless' relationship with his family members

Structure:

As a group, talk about McCandless' family: his parents Billie and Walt, his grandfather Loren Johnson, his sister Carine. What do we know about each of their personalities? What did McCandless inherit from each of his parents? What did he rebel against?

Ask students to choose one family member and write a paragraph about his or her relationship with McCandless. Share as a class and discuss.
