Relationship to Other Books

-Mukherjee has published several works of fiction which deal with the same themes as in Jasmine, including India, immigration, women's opportunities and identity issues. She also co-authored a memoir with her husband, Clark Blaise, which gives firsthand, real-life insight to her experience as an immigrant in the U.S. The short story which sparked Jasmine is published in a collection of stories called The Middleman and Other Stories (1988).
