How significant is the character, Liddy?

Liddy is an interesting character because she symbolizes potentiality. The readers find Liddy's determination and strength of the mind irresistible. The young girl is determined to transition into womanhood and is not scared of the process. The bizarre thing about the transition is growing wings on the legs, but Liddy gladly waits for that to happen. Therefore, Liddy is an important character because she gives the reader confidence to face new challenges to transition into the next stage of life.

In "Twenty Hours," couples kill each other because they expect a better edition of a partner with prescribed features. The men are the most notorious because they kill their wives to print other women who are expected to be more beautiful and well-behaved. Ironically, men are disappointed when they discover that the printed wives are the same as the previous ones.
