Let the Great World Spin Irony

Let the Great World Spin Irony

Enjoying the spectacle

People stopped on their way to work in order to see what was going to happen. They saw a small male figure standing on the edge of the tower, waiting for something. The longer the crowd waited, the more restless it became. Finally, someone shouted to the rest, asking if anyone “did have binoculars”. They didn’t think that it might be possible that the man on the top of the tower needed help and that it was a horrible irony. If one of them would be desperate enough to jump from a roof one day, there would be a great possibility that someone would ask for a binocular too instead of trying to help.

Better here

Corrigan is not afraid of difficulties! On the contrary, he always tries to challenge himself. His uncontrollable wish to make the world a better place made him settle down in the most notorious and dangerous district in New York. His neighbors are really not the best ones, for they are drug addicts, prostitutes, pimps and criminals. Ciaran even starts worrying that Corrigan might be a drug addict too. That thought makes Corrigan laugh. He says, “with all respect to Heaven, I like it here”. The irony is that Corrigan has been always been an extremely religious man, he is even a member of the Order of Francis of Assisi, but still he prefers this sinful world to any other place, even a better one.

Routine

When Tillie was being arrested, she looked relaxed. She caught Ciaran’s eye and even “gave half a wink”. It seemed that nothing could make her worry. He saw that she was “calm, as if it happened all the time”. The irony was that Ciaran forgot who Tillie was. Being a hooker, she was arrested many times.
