Fir-tree

Fir trees are a genus of evergreen coniferous trees in the family Pinaceae. They are found throughout much of North and Central America, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, occurring in mountains over most of the range.

Whin

A yellow-flowered shrub of the pea family, the leaves of which are modified to form spines, native to western Europe and North Africa.

River-yew

Yew is a common name given to various species of trees and shrubs that are coniferous and in the genus Taxus. Presumably, a river-yew is a yew tree found near the river.

Wailing

Lamenting or crying to express grief, anger, or pain.

Reed-bird

Presumably a bird whose ecosystem includes reed plants.

Linnet

A mainly brown and gray finch with a reddish breast and forehead.

Thrush

A type of songbird found all over the world; in the same genus as blackbirds and robins.
