As three childhood friends embrace adulthood, they drift apart physically but maintain a close emotional connection. All three are Indian women who feel very strongly the pressures placed upon their social minority. Life has a way of impressing itself onto the place where dreams and hope used to be. Each of the friends watches her other two friends enter an unfulfilling or troubling time, unable to offer help, but the friends are the only ones familiar enough with one another to observe that the other two are struggling because on the outside they all appear fine.
Sunita is the oldest of the friends. She attends a good college, but she quickly starts failing classes as she falls in love with Akaash. He's a psychotherapist who welcomes Sunita into a world of introspection. Married with two kids, she quickly starts losing her identity amid the hectic schedule of a super-mom.
Tania is the most financially successful. She throws herself into a business career. Eventually she abandons everything -- family, friends, fun -- to pursue her career outside of Ilford. This seems great for Tania, who is now prosperous and on the rise to great success, but her aggressive forthrightness has cost her meaningful relationships which now haunt her empty apartment.
Finally, Chila is the youngest. She becomes engaged to Deepak Sharma, he is the most eligible bachelor of Chigwell. Although she adores Deepak, she quickly becomes aware of his rather colorful past. He has a long list of exes, even Tania. As Chila feels less and less desired by Deepak, she begins to recognize what her future will look like as his most prized possession.
