How did Alice lose her virginity?

Alice lost her virginity in a traumatic incident of rape, unlike many who lose it during their first night after the wedding. Alice was having a walk in the park when an assaulter kidnapped her and threatened to kill her. Alice tried to resist, but she later realized no point in losing her life, and she gave in. Before reading the book, the reader gets the impression that the book has a happy beginning and ending. The protagonist did not get happiness, and this fact contradicts the expectations of readers. Readers associate home with safety and joy, but that is not the case for the protagonist. Instead of good things happening to Alice, she is raped and deprived of her virginity. Why is Alice isolating herself from her friends and family?
