Lia
Lia is the daughter of Peter and Anne, religious parents who want her to live in the footsteps of Christ. Lia is brought into a church residence, and she is taught that human flesh is the temple of Christ. Therefore, Lia is reminded that she should not sin with her body because that is going against the principles of Christ. Later, Lia has a secret sexual affair with Mathew during their adolescent years. Lia gets married to Harry when she matures, and they have a daughter called Iris, their only child. Lia is cancerous, and towards the end, she succumbs.
Peter
Lia is Anne's husband and Iris's father. Peter is a dedicated Christian who brings up his family according to Christ's teachings. For instance, he reminds Iris of the significance of caring for her body. Peter is also humane because he brings Mathew to live with his family.
Anne
Anne is Peter's wife and Iris' mother. Anne is a good woman; she looks forward to influencing her daughter to be principled and, more importantly, recognize the presence of Christ in her life. Anne is supportive, helps her husband make vital family decisions, and helps in the execution part.
Matthew
Matthew is a young adolescent boy brought in by Peter and Anne to live with them. Matthew is headed for ordination and looks forward to becoming a priest in the future. However, Matthew and Iris start having sexual attraction and commit the secret sin of having intercourse outside wedlock.
Harry
Harry is Lia's husband and father, Iris. Harry is an academician, and Lia loves him because he is a stable man ready to start a family. Despite having a sexual affair with Mathew for a long time, Lia realized that Mathew was not the right man for her, and she fell in love with Harry, who later married her.
Iris
Iris is the only child of Lia and Harry. Iris grows close to her family, and she witnesses her mother suffering throughout her life. In the last days of her cancerous mother, she dedicated her time and resources to take care of her until she died. Iris demonstrates a strong bond between mother and daughter.
