What finally happens in confrontation with Jenks?

Eldon cand Jimmy can no longer handle the beatings inflicted on Eldon's mother by Jinks. They finally confront Jenks ending with Jimmy stabbing Jenks. We are never sure if Jenks lives or dies after the attack.
