Alfred Abel

Alfred Abel appeared in 140 films from 1913-1938. He first appeared on stage in Switzerland before coming to prominence in Germany under director Max Reinhardt. Abel would work with some of the silent era's greatest directors including Ernst Lubitsch, F. W. Murnau, and Richard Oswald. He also directed five films during his career.

Gustav Fröhlich

Gustav Fröhlich appeared in over 110 films and episodes of television during his 50-plus-year career. He was also a director and writer. He was one of the foremost film stars during the Third Reich. He continued to act after World War II, but his roles were supporting ones and no longer leading, and he would find very little work after 1956. He is best known for his role as Freder in Metropolis.

Rudolf Klein-Rogge

Rudolf Klein-Rogge made his acting debut playing Cassius in Julius Caesar in 1909 and is most well known for his role as The Inventor in Fritz Lang's Metropolis. He appeared in 94 films during his screen acting career, which began in 1913 and lasted for 36 years. He passed away in 1955.

Brigitte Helm

Brigitte Helm appeared in 38 films during her acting career. Her role as Maria in Fritz Lang's Metropolis was her first appearance on the silver screen. She would retire only nine years after its release. She came under the wrath of Nazi Germany after marrying Dr. Hugo Kunheim, a man of Jewish background. Once retired she refused to give interviews about her film career.
