Hua Mulan
Mulan is the protagonist of the film. She is exceptionally talented in martial arts despite being a girl. When her aging father tried to enlist into the army, she stopped him by enlisting in his place. Since she is a girl, she is not allowed to enlist. However, she went on ahead while disguised as a boy.
Hua Hu
Hua Hu is Mulan's father. He is also a retired soldier. When his country was under constant threat from the Rouran tribes, Hu wanted to reenlist into the army to help serve his country.
Wentai
Wentai is one of the commanders of the army. Mulan befriends him without him realizing that she is actually a girl. However, Mulan eventually tells him the truth.
Fei Xiaohu
Fei is Mulan's friend. He was also enlisted into the same army as Mulan. Despite recognizing her, he helped Mulan keep her identity a secret.
