Is My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry appropriate for a 12 yr old girl?

My granddaughter asked me for book recommendations for her & I want to know if this book is appropriate.

I think a twelve-year-old would enjoy this book. I believe the main character is seven, and although her experiences after her grandmother's death are difficult, I don't remember there being anything inappropriate. This is a coming of age story, it focuses on loss..... and it is actually quite comical.
