My Own Words by Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a collection of editorials, tributes, speeches, and essays narrating about her life from childhood through being a Supreme Court Judge. The book gives a sense of life. Ginsburg explains how she loves her husband, her life being a judge at the Supreme Court, and gender equality. The book is divided into five sections. The first section contains articles written from her childhood and college. The first section also includes her relationship with Justice Antonin Scalia. As well, she discussed the relationship between conservative and liberal judges.
In section two, she writes a tribute to other women who are respected on their own right. Some of the women she offers tribute include Anne Frank, Gloria Steinem, and Sandra Day O’Connor. In the 1970s, Ginsburg uses her legal skills to advocate gender equality before the law. Indeed, the 1970s saw many social and legal gains of women. Section three includes her role in legal briefs and statements about females as equals before the law. As well, section three includes her appointment by President Jimmy Carter to the U.S Court of Appeals.
Moreover, Ginsburg details how in 1993, she was chosen by President Bill Clinton to become the U.S Supreme Court. In section four, she talks about her remarks as a Supreme Court justice. Ultimately, in section five, Ginsburg details her writings from her time on the court. The section also contains speeches she made about high profile cases.
