Although Colonel Lloyd was immensely wealthy, he supplied his slaves with barely enough to survive. The slaves received eight pounds of meat, a bushel of corn meal, two lined shirts, one pair of pants, and a jacket, trousers, socks, and shoes. Children are given two cotton shirts.
