Describe two conflicts between Douglas and Covey. What generalization can you make about slavery based on these conflicts?

Covey is jealous of Douglas's intelligence. Douglas refuses to be beaten and whipped any longer. I think we can say that these conflicts amount to a lack of humanity,decency and respect on the part of Covey: there is a breaking point for everyman when he feels he has nothing more to lose.
