Douglass chose to leave out some details of his escape. How does this influence your overall understanding of his success at escaping? What other details would you like to know?

Douglass states that he leaves out details of his escape as to deprive slaveholders of the knowledge that might impede other slaves to run away. I don't think how they escaped was really a major theme I was interested in. I think his struggle for emancipation was far more important and interesting. I'm glad he escaped but the details important to me were what kind of a man he was and what kind of a man he became.
